Amphitecna latifolia is a tree native from Florida to the Caribbean and from southern Mexico to Ecuador. Its fruits are globose, indehiscent pepos with a hard shell, containing an average of 65 seeds. These seeds measure 14.50 ± 1.21 mm in length and 6.50 ± 0.55 mm in width, with a fresh weight of 0.27 ± 0.03 g and a moisture content of 23.85 ± 1.66 %. The embryo is inverted. Within the same seed lot, fractions of non-dormant and physiologically dormant seeds coexist. Germination is photoblastic indifferent and occurs within an optimal temperature range of 25/30 °C. Storage behavior is recalcitrant.
