Floristic inventory of the Featured Natural Element Bitirí River Natural Bridge, Holguín, eastern Cuba

The “Puente Natural del río Bitirí”, in Holguín, eastern Cuba, is an Outstanding Natural Monument proposed as a protected area due to its geological relevance. The floristic inventory and characterization of plant formations in the area showed the existence of 272 species of flowering plants, belonging to 205 genera and 70 families. The natural vegetation shows high levels of alteration due to human activities, with plant communities in various stages of succession. This work provides fundamental information to support its proposal as a protected area.
