Calycophyllum candidissimum is a pioneer tree native to Cuba and distributed from Mexico to Colombia and Venezuela. Its fruits are capsules that release an average of 49 viable seeds. These seeds measure 5.58 ± 1.00 mm in length and 0.80 ± 0.13 mm in width, with a fresh weight of 0.37 ± 0.05 mg and a moisture content of 9.25 ± 2.78 %, and possess a spatulate embryo. Within the same seed lot, both non-dormant and physiologically dormant seeds coexist. Germination is photoblastic positive, with an optimum temperature of 25/30 °C and rates of approximately 35 % per month, depending on the proportion of dormant seeds and sowing conditions. The seeds exhibit orthodox storage behavior.
