Calyptrogyne plumeriana is a palm native to Cuba and Hispaniola, whose fruits are drupes with a single seed. The seeds have an average length of 5.6 ± 0.36 mm, a width of 4.91 ± 0.19 mm, and a thickness of 4.58 ± 0.15 mm, a fresh mass of 0.09 ± 0.01 g, and a moisture content of 17.79 ± 4.17 %. The embryo is linear and underdeveloped, and dormancy is both morphological and morphophysiological. Germination is photoblastic indifferent, and the optimum germination temperature is 25/35 °C, in a substrate with moisture maintained throughout the pre-germination period. Most seeds germinate after one month. The species’ humid habitats and the moisture content of its seeds suggest a recalcitrant storage behavior.
