Cedrela odorata is a Neotropical tree whose fruits are dehiscent capsules producing approximately 25 viable seeds per fruit. The seeds have average dimensions of 21.63 ± 0.35 mm in length, 1.22 ± 0.05 mm in width and 3.86 ± 0.07 mm in thickness, with a fresh weight of 20.1 ± 0.5 mg and a moisture content of 9.53 ± 0.27 %. The seeds do not exhibit dormancy, germinate at an optimum temperature range of 25/30 °C and are photoblastic indifferent, meaning that light is not a limiting factor for germination. Storage behavior is orthodox: the seeds tolerate dehydration and can maintain high viability (90 %) for several years under low-humidity and refrigerated conditions, facilitating their use in propagation and conservation programs.
