Coccoloba diversifolia is a tree whose natural distribution ranges from Florida and Mexico to Central America and from the Caribbean to northern Venezuela. Its fruit is a fleshy achene, and its seeds have average dimensions of 7.58 ± 1.04 mm in length, 4.49 ± 0.27 mm in width, and 4.36 ± 0.29 mm in thickness, with a fresh mass of 0.06 ± 0.01 g and a moisture content of 18.34 ± 0.53 %. The embryo is peripheral, and a single batch may contain both non-dormant seeds and seeds with physiological dormancy. Germination is photoblastic indifferent, and the optimum germination temperature is 25 °C. The seeds are orthodox (tolerant to dehydration), but the length of time they can be stored without losing viability is unknown.
