Harrisia fernowii is a succulent, candelabriform tree endemic to Cuba. Its fruits are cactidia that produce between 500-1,500 seeds. The seeds measure 2.44 ± 0.19 mm in length, 1.46 ± 0.09 mm in width, and 0.99 ± 0.05 mm in thickness, with a moisture content of 11.04 ± 3.14 %, and possess a bent peripheral embryo. Within the same batch, photoblastic seeds with physiological dormancy and non-dormant seeds coexist, showing an optimal temperature range of 25/30 °C and a positive response to chemical scarification. The seeds can be stored at room temperature for up to two years without losing viability.
