Magnolia acunae is a tree endemic to Cuba; its fruits are polyfollicles containing 10-19 seeds. The seeds measure 7.63 ± 0.51 mm in length, 8.72 ± 1.12 mm in width and 4.34 ± 0.69 mm in thickness, with a moisture content of 12.77 ± 0.11 %, and possess an underdeveloped embryo. The seeds exhibit morphophysiological dormancy, germinate at an optimum temperature of 25/30 °C and are photoblastic indifferent, responding to moist stratification treatments. Storage behavior has not been determined; although seeds have a low initial moisture content, viability is rapidly lost during open storage at room temperature, especially if the sarcotesta is not removed.
